GAME BY GAME PROCEDURES
Game Procedures have been extracted from the 2025 Handbook and are in chronological order by the first day they appear in the season.
Captain’s Challenge (season long)
Coordinator: Bill Titmuss
The Captain’s Challenge runs all year with the final played on Thursday, October 5th at Fraserview. The format is simple. The tournament final score has 2 parts and, until the final round, scores do not matter. In the first part Members earn one participation point for every Thursday round played with the club during the 2025 season:
Each Thursday round played: 1 point
There will 28 points available prior to this event. The points earned will be posted on the Season Leaderboard.
In the second part, we have the finale on October 10th in which Members will earn Net Stableford points. The overall winners are determined simply by adding their season points to their final day Net Stableford points: Net bogey = 1point,
Net Par =2 points, Net birdie = 3 points, and so on.
Example: 27 season points plus 32 final round points equals 59 points.

Winners: Highest total points in the 3 flights win prizes.
Bob Jack Trophy & Away Games (season long)
Tabulator: David Johannsson
Format: Net scores for each of the Away Games.
Tee Location: Use of all locations is allowable. Once a tee location is chosen, it must be used for all holes.
Ties: There will be no tie breakers. Winners will share the prize money.
Winner: The lowest total of the best three Net Scores of the Away games played.
Award: A trophy for the winner plus prize award to the winner and runner-up.
Sign up: To a list or tee time is up to the coordinator. Please note:
- Wait List players are guaranteed a slot.
- Unlike Thursdays Waitlist Players cannot be bumped off an Away Game sign-up list.
Costs: Most away games are played on Mondays. The cost for each event will include a $5.00 contribution to the Honey Pot. Please note:

4 Man Teams Opening Day
March 27th at Langara: Players play their own ball. The best 2 of 4 net scores for each hole will be used to determine the winning team.
October 9th at Fraserview: Format to be determined.
Bud Brown Eclectic
Three Rounds at Langara
April 3rd, April 10th, and April 17th
Format: Eclectic, best Net score and Gross score for each of the 18 holes from the rounds played on the above dates. The field will be divided evenly into three handicap flights.
Tee Location for Net scores: Players may use their tee box of choice. The same tee must be used for all rounds. Please select your tee box during sign up.
Tee Location for Gross Scores: Flight A Tee Box 2, Flight B 2/3 Combo Tees, Flight C Tee Box 3. Note: A player may play from a longer tee box and still qualify for gross prizes. For example: Flight B could play from Tee Box 2.
Draw: Sign to a tee time for the first two rounds.
The third round to a list, as the leaders of each flight will be grouped together.
Scoring: Scorecards will be turned into the Captain’s Table where the eclectic scores will be computed.
Ties: USGA tiebreaker as per our software, best back 9, best back 6, best back 3.
Winners: Lowest 18- hole Eclectic Net score in each division.
Lowest 18- hole Eclectic Gross score in each division
Awards: Shared trophy for the Net Score winner in each flight plus prize awards to the winners and 2nd, 3rd, and 4th places. Gross Score winners earn prize money only.
There will be no double dipping. Players will only receive prizes for Net or Gross scores, not both.
Two Man Team Challenge
April 24th at Langara
Coordinator: Richard Martin
Format: Teams are chosen by our Vice Captain – Draw using our software to randomly select teams with balanced Course Handicaps.
Front 9: Net best ball with normal handicaps. Play your own ball.
Back 9: Two man modified scramble.
Modified Scramble: Both players hit tee shots on all holes. One of the tee shots is selected. Each player plays his ball from that spot. This is repeated until a ball is holed. Each player must contribute a minimum of 4 tee shots.
The team handicap will be computed by using the higher handicap player’s handicap on the even number holes: 10, 12, 14, 16 and 18.
The lower handicap player’s will be used on the odd number holes: 11, 13, 15 and 17. This will be computed at the Captain’s Table.
Tee Location: Use of all locations is allowable. Once a tee location is chosen, it must be used for all holes. Partners may use different tee boxes.
Draw: Sign up to a list.
Ties: USGA tiebreaker as per our software, best back 9, best back 6, best back 3.
Winner: The lowest 18 holes net score.
Awards: Prize awards to winners and 2nd, 3rd, and 4th places.
Texas Scramble
May 1st at Langara
Format: Played with balanced four-man teams. The best drive is selected, not necessarily the longest. Then all players hit their second shot from within 12 inches of the chosen drive, no closer to the hole. Repeat this procedure for the 3rd shot etc. up to the green. The same procedure applies until one person sinks the putt. The team is required to use a minimum of 4 tee shots per player (5 for a 3-man team).
3 Man-Teams: In fairness, 3-man teams still get four tries per shot. How? Player A hits two tee shots, Player B hits two approach shots, Player C hits two chip shots or two putts. The three players rotate turns hitting a second shot. Who hits two shots next? Whoever is next in the rotation.

Tee Locations: All players must play from the #3 tees.
Ties: USGA tiebreaker as per our software, best back 9, best back 6, best back 3.
Awards: Prize money for winners and the 2nd, and 3rd places.

Stroke Play Championship & Hugh Marshall Net Play Championship
Two Rounds at Langara
May 15th and May 22nd
Coordinator: Colin Mallet
Format: All members are eligible to play in both rounds. The field will be divided into three equal flights. Handicaps will be fixed for both days of the competition. Players can compete for both Gross and Net prizes for each flight.
Tee Location for Net scores: Players may use their tee box of choice. The same tees must be used for both rounds. Please select your tee box during sign up.
Tee Location for Gross Scores: Flight A Tee Box 2, Flight B 2/3 Combo Tees, Flight C Tee Box 3. Note: A player may play from a longer tee box and still qualify for gross prizes. For example: Flight B could play from Tee Box 2.
Draw: Sign up to a tee time.
Winners: For each of the three flights there will be a Low Gross Stroke Play winner and a Low Net winner.
Ties: Best back 9, best back 6, best back 3 from the final round score.
Awards: Plaque and prizes to the Net Score winners and 2nd, 3rd, and 4th places.
Plaque and prize to the Stroke Play Champion and 2nd, 3rd, and 4th places.
There will be no double dipping. Players will only receive prizes for Net or Gross scores, not both.
Dave Fairweather Trophy
Match Play Team Event
May 29th at Langara, July 24that McCleery, Oct 2nd at Fraserview
“Dave Fairweather provided outstanding leadership throughout the years and worked tirelessly to support the development of our Club. His staunch belief that Match Play is the measure of golfing excellence makes the presentation of the trophy in his name a most appropriate and prestigious award.”
Format at Langara: Individual Match Play. The field will be divided into two teams, the President’s Team and the Captain’s Team. Points: 1 point for a win, ½ point for a tie.
Format at McCleery: Two Man Teams 4 ball matches. Best single net score wins the hole. Points: 2 points for a win, 1 point for a tie.
Format at Fraserview: *Two Man Teams 4 ball matches. Best net total score between partners wins the hole. Points: 2 points for a win, 1 point for a tie.
*It may be possible for some to play the Alternate Shot format like the Ryder Cup if everyone in the foursome agrees.
Winner: The team with the most points at the end of the season. Prizes: Bragging rights for the team. $5 for match winners. $2.50 for ties.
Draw: Sign up to a list.

TNT Team Net Total

Format: 4 man teams. The single best Net Score in the foursome will be recorded for each hole. This event used to played in regular foursomes. Now you can sign up to a tee time to create your own foursome.
Tee Location: Use of all locations is allowable. Once a tee location is chosen, it must be used for all holes. Please select your tee box during sign up.
Ties: USGA tiebreaker as per our software, best back 9, best back 6, best back 3.
Draw: Sign up to a tee time.
Winners: The foursome with the Lowest Total Net score over 18 holes.
Awards: Shared trophy for winners. Prize awards to winners and 2nd and 3rd places.
Note:The foursome captain’s will record all players Gross scores on his card.

Ab Miles Tankard & Laurie Craddock Vintage Cup

Ab Miles Tankard
Format: 18 holes of stroke play. Members who have shot their age in a West Point Golf sanctioned event are eligible for this event. A player’s Handicap is his Age on the day of the tournament.
Tee Location: 2/3 Combo for the competition. Any tee if just for fun.
Draw: Sign up to a tee time.
Winners: Low Net equals gross score minus age.
Ties: Ties goes to the player with the highest total handicap.
Laurie Craddock Vintage Cup
Format: 18 holes of stroke play. A player’s Handicap is his Age on the day of the tournament. The age ranges will be a balanced distribution of the players entered in this event.
Tee location: 2/3 Combo for the competition. Any tee if just for fun.
Winner: Low Net equals gross score minus age.
Ties: Ties goes to the oldest player.
Awards: The “Ab Miles Tankard” (donated by McQuarrie Hunter law firm). The “Laurie Craddock Vintage Cup”. Winners and the runners-up have their names recorded in the Club Journal of Champions. Prizes to 2nd, 3rd, and 4th places.
Ed Angel Trophy
Two Man Teams
June 26th at McCleery
Format: Two-man teams using combined Net Scores over 18 holes. Total iCaps of partners should equal 36 or greater. The Vice Captain – Draw will create the teams. Gross scores will be turned into the Captain’s Table.
Tee Location: Use of all locations is allowable. Once a tee location is chosen, it must be used for the entire round. Please select your tee box during sign up.
Draw: Sign up to a list.
Ties: USGA tiebreaker as per our software, best back 9, best back 6, best back 3.
Winners: The team with the lowest combined Net Score.
Awards: Shared plaque for the winning team members, plus prize awards to the 2nd, 3rd, and 4th places.
Three of Four Tees
July 3rd at McCleery
Format: Prior to the first hole, each player must choose 6 back tees, 6 middle tees and 6 forward tees. These choices must be entered onto a scorecard before the round starts. Players cannot change their choices once the round starts.
Players will then exchange scorecards with another member of the group. Player’s will record their gross score for each hole.
Winners: The players who have the best net results. That is, gross score minus their course handicap.
Tees:
At McCleery Tees 1, 2, and 3 or for those who normally play the forward tees: Tees 2, 3, and 4.
Draw: Sign up to a tee time. Players should select Tee Box 2 if playing the regular tees, Tee Box 3 if playing the forward tees at McCleery.
Ties: USGA tiebreaker as per our software, best back 9, best back 6, best back 3.
Awards: Prizes awards to Winners, 2nd, 3rd, and 4th places.
Club Championship – Match Play
July 10th, 17th, and 24th at McCleery
Qualifications:Members must have played a minimum of 5 of the 12 qualifying rounds that precede the Club Championship. These 12 rounds are noted in the handbook and the calendar. The active membership will be divided into three equal flights. The eight players with lowest iCaps for each flight will be invited to play in the Club Championship. If any of these players decline, then the invitation will move onto the 9th best, then the 10th best and so on. Players must commit to be available for all three Thursdays.
Draw: July 10th sign up to a list. July 18th to a tee time. July 24th to a list. Spots for those Championship will be reserved.
Format: All rounds will be Match Play.
Flight A = Gross Scores
Flights B and C = Net scores. Players will need to be know their Course Handicap for the tee box they choose to play.
Tee Location: Flight A must use tee box #2. Players in flights B and C using course handicaps, may play from their tee box of choice.
Match Play: Each match will continue until a winner is determined. Putts may be conceded. Please see the RCGA or USGA rules for Match Play.
Match Play Ties: If at the end of 18 holes a match is tied, the players will replay the 18th hole once. If there is still a tie, set up a 5-hole putting course to decide the winner.
Winners: A winner and runner up will be determined for each flight. The winner of Flight A is the Club Champion.
Prizes: Round 1 winners $10, Round 2 winners $10, Round 3 winners $20.
Awards: Trophy for the flight A winner.
West Point vs University Men’s Midweek
July 14th at University Golf Course

Format: Match Play with partner. Scorecards with gross scores must be turned into the Captain’s Table.
Tee Location: Use of all locations is allowable. Once a tee location is chosen, it must be used for both rounds.
Scoring: 1 point for front nine, 1 point for back nine, one point for 18-hole total. Ties for each section equals ½ point.
Lunch: The clubs will contribute part of the costs for a participant’s lunch. Details will be available closer the date.
2024 Winner: West Point Golf Club
Sweet Sixteen
July 17th at McCleery
Format: The field will be divided into three equal flights. Scoring is based on computing the net score then subtracting the player’s two highest net holes. Thus, scoring is based on the “Sweet Sixteen”. The Captain’s Table will compute the results.
Tee Location: Use of all locations is allowable. Once a tee location is chosen, it must be used for all holes.Please select your tee box during sign up.
Draw: Sign up to a tee time.
Ties: Ties will be honored and both players will be awarded prize money.
Winners: There will be a winner for each of the three flights. Those with the best low net sixteen holes. Prizes also to 2nd, 3rd, and 4th places.
Super Senior and Senior Master Championships
Two Rounds at McCleery July 31st and August 7th
(Played during the Neil McIntyre Trophy)
Format: Players must be 75 or older as of July 30th, 2025
Super Senior = age 75 – 79 Senior Master = age 80 +

Palcutta
August 14th at McCleery
Format: This format was new in 2022. Teams play for net Stableford points. The Captain of the Draw will divide the field into four equal flights. Each team will have one player from each flight with the total team handicaps being close to equal. Each participant will contribute $20 to the prize pool. Prize money is divided among the top three teams at 50%, 30%, and 20%.
Tee Location: Use of all locations is allowable. Once a tee location is chosen, it must be used for all holes. Please select your tee box during sign up.
Draw: Sign up to a list
Ties: USGA tiebreaker as per our software, best back 9, best back 6, best back 3.
Scoring: Points are calculated on a Modified Stableford system based on each player’s Net Score:
Net Par = 1 point,
Net Birdie = 2 points,
Net Eagle = 3 points,
Net Double Eagle = 4 points.
The team score on each hole is the sum of the three best points per hole. These scores are totaled to determine an18-hole team score by the Captain’s Table.

Absenteeism: Teams must play if only 3 members are present. Teams with less than 3 members are scratched.
Two Man Team Stableford
August 14th at McCleery
(For non Palcutta participants)
Format: Two-man teams playing for total net Stableford points.
Tees: Choice of any tee for each player. Please select your tee box during sign up.
Draw: Sign up to a list. (Use the comment box to note you are not playing in the Palcutta.)
Winner: The team with the most Stableford points.
Ties: Best back nine etc.
Note: Lunch is included in this day: Follow instructions on our website.
Prizes: Awards to winners and 2nd place.
Four Clubs and a Putter
August 21st at McCleery
Format: Net play using current handicaps. Players will use only four clubs and a putter. Clubs must be selected prior to the start of the round and cannot be changed once the round has begun. All other clubs should be removed from the bag.
Tee Location for Net Scores: Use of all locations is allowable. Once a tee location is chosen, it must be used for the entire round. Please select your tee box during sign up.

Joe Dwyer Shield Two Man Teams
August 28th at McCleery
Format: Our Draw Master will randomly select teams so that each twosome will have approximately the same total handicap.
Players will use their course handicap as a starting point. For example, a player with a course handicap of 14 will start with 14 points. Points are awarded on gross scores:
Bogey = 1 pt. Par = 2 pts. Birdie = 3 pts. Eagle = 4 pts.
Tee Location: Use of all locations is allowable. Once a tee location is chosen, it must be used for the entire round. Please select your tee box during sign up.
Draw: Sign up to a list.
Ties: Ties will be broken by comparing team points using best back 9, best back 6,
best back 3 etc.
Winners: The winners will be the team that have the most combined points. The Captain’s Table will compute the results. In case of a missing partner or cancellation, a ghost will be used to compute the score.
Awards: Shared plaque. Prizes for winners and 2nd, 3rd, and 4th places.
Roli Parker Shield Eclectic
Three Rounds
Sept. 11th, Sept. 18th, and Sept. 25th at Fraserview
Format: Eclectic, best Net score and Gross score for each of the 18 holes from the number of rounds played on the above noted dates. The field will be divided evenly into three handicap flights.
Tee Location for Net scores: Players may use their tee box of choice. The same tee must be used for all rounds. Please select your tee box during sign up.
Tee Location for Gross Scores: Flight A Tee Box 3, Flight B 3/4 Combo Tees, Flight C Tee Box 4. Note: A player may play from a longer tee box and still qualify for gross prizes. For example: Flight B could play from Tee Box 3. Please note, players do not have to compete for gross prizes.

Doug LeBlanc Shield / Captain’s Challenge
October 16th at Fraserview
Le Blanc Shield
Format: Play off for the Monthly Medal winners and ties, in the three handicap flights approximately split approximately: 0 – 16, 17 – 24, 25 & up.
Winners of the Monthly Medal in any division will compete for the LeBlanc Shield in the same Handicap Division using the published handicap as at the date of the LeBlanc Shield competition. If you qualify in more than one handicap division, you will compete in the lowest handicap group for which you qualified.
Draw: Sign up to a tee time.
Tee Location: Use of all locations is allowable. Once a tee location is chosen, it must be used for all holes.Please select your tee box during sign up.
Ties: Broken by using net scores on #1 handicap index hole, then the #2 handicap index hole, and so on.
Winners: The lowest net score over 18 holes in each flight.
*Awards: Shared trophy for the winners in each division, plus prize awards for the winners and the 2nd, 3rd, and 4th places.

Two Man Teams

We will use “Sign up to a tee time.” To pick or be picked is the question? If there is someone you really want to play with, arrange to be online at the same time to sign up for this event in the same slot. Or pick an empty slot at your preferred time and see who selects you for a partner.
Tee Location: Use of all locations is allowable. Once a tee location is chosen, it must be used for the entire round. Please select your tee box during sign up.
Scoring: The best single net score for each holewill be used. Just keep individuals scores and the Captains’ Table will compute the results.
